Engineered for Success: Our Company History
Bill McCown grew up in the field of commercial masonry work. Throughout the years his family’s business was continually contacted by people wanting their brick fixed. From his experience in commercial masonry work, he recognized that the brick was not the problem. The major issue that was affecting millions of homes and buildings throughout the mid-western and southern United States was …. foundation failure!
So in 1986, Bill began Power Lift Foundation Systems with the goal of providing homeowners experiencing foundation problems a permanent solution that would support and protect their investment.
With more than 40 years in the construction industry and 30+ years specializing in the foundation support industry, Bill McCown continues a long-standing family tradition.
For generations, the McCown family has worked in the masonry field of construction. In 1986, Bill proudly took “the family business” in a new and successful direction by founding Power Lift Foundation Systems, and growing it into the successful company it is today.
In addition to his design talents, Bill has cultivated his extensive knowledge of foundations, foundation failures, and foundation repair techniques and systems through a combination of continuing education programs, equipment and technology seminars and in-field experience.
For more than two and a half decades, Bill has been recognized as an industry expert and has been called on to provide expert testimony in foundation litigation cases on numerous occasions.
Throughout the course of his career, he has been published twice concerning foundation investigation, failure and repair. Under his leadership, Power Lift has been featured in one of the nation’s most recognized engineering periodicals, Engineering News Record Magazine.
Throughout the company’s history, Bill has led the charge for excellence in the engineering aspect of Power Lift’s projects, equipment, and products. Accordingly, he has formed strong alliances with some of the most prominent engineering firms in the southern and central United States.
Due to his solid working relationships with these firms, Power Lift can proudly say that there has never been a failure or call-back on any of our commercial projects.
Coming from a close construction family, Bill has always put a great emphasis on relationships — both personal and professional. His wife and two children come first, and this attitude extends to Power Lift Employees. In fact, this philosophy is what makes Power Lift less like a business and more like a family.
Today, Power Lift Foundation Systems is one of the leading companies in the field thanks to Bill’s talents, knowledge and leadership.
Power Lift Foundation Systems is always focused on the safety of our foundation solutions, our clients and our employees. It is our intent to comply with all local, state and federal safety standards, codes and regulations.
We are also committed to discovering, correcting and preventing safety and environmental health hazards that could affect our employees and the general public.
Clients: We are committed to providing foundation systems that are safe and effective for our clients and the residents/tenants of their buildings.
Employees: We are committed to providing the most proactive, and safest working conditions possible.
Power Lift has achieved an experience modifier rating of 0.71, which is significantly better than the industry average of 1.0. (A rating below 1.0 means the company has superior safety procedures in place, and the track record to back it up.) For reference, many major companies demand that their partners maintain an EMR of less than 1.0.
AND… Our Safety Manual contains more than 200 pages. That’s how dedicated we are to safety!
Few companies in the foundation repair industry hold patents for products and equipment that they have developed themselves.
At Power Lift, we don’t have one patent — we have seven! See more about our proprietary technologies with the links below:
