When the soil around your home starts to expand, it can cause your basement walls to bow or move inward.
Power Lift has 3 solutions for this type of problem:
Option 1: If you want to halt the inward movement (but not necessarily move the wall outward), we can install Power Lift’s Power Strut wall braces.
Power Lift’s Power Strut wall braces are designed and engineered to be mechanically fastened to the basement floor and the joists above to resist the inward forces and hold the basement wall from pushing inward further.
As these braces are mounted against the inside of the perimeter basement wall, they are visible and require the use of thicker studs if the basement walls are to be finished out.
Option 2: If you want to move your basement walls back to their correct alignment, we can install Power Lift’s Power Hold wall anchors along the exterior of your basement walls to restrain and pull the wall outward.
These anchors require an assembly to be affixed to the exterior basement wall and a helical anchor be installed below grade and away from the structure.
The assembly is equipped with a high strength cable that’s attached to the helical anchor. The assembly is also equipped with a ratcheting apparatus which allows the cable to be tightened (in dry conditions) against the helical anchor.
By tightening the anchors slowly over time during dry periods, the wall can actually be pulled outward to the correct position.
If you want to move the wall outward as soon as possible, Power Lift can excavate the wall along the exterior so the soil is no longer in contact with the basement wall. Once excavation is complete, the anchors can be tightened and the wall pulled back and secured at the same time.
Option 3: If your basement wall has experienced extreme cracking, we will recommend installing Power Lift’s Power Bond carbon fiber reinforcing. This process adds tremendous tensile strength to the wall sometimes eliminating the need for braces or anchors. Power Lift’s Power Bond carbon fiber reinforcing is most commonly utilized on basement walls constructed of masonry block, but can also be used on concrete walls.
Power Lift will remedy your basement wall problems and get your home’s basement back toa secure and stable form. If you are experiencing any of the issues we mentioned above, don’t delay. Your home’s safety and overall value could be at risk.
Pier and Beam/Crawl Space Repair
All too often wood floor structures are neglected over time and suffer from deterioration and settlement. Few companies truly understand how to rebuild, repair, and resupport a residential home’s wood floor framing system. Power Lift’s experts know what it takes and how to repair this vital part of your home. Because the floor framing system of this type of home is ground supported, they suffer tremendously from the movement of unstable soils. They are also prone to hold water in the crawl space area which promotes deterioration of the joist, sills, and girders. Power Lift can resolve these problems by replacing/rebuilding of the deteriorated wooden members, shimming and leveling on top of existing masonry columns or offering deep support utilizing Power Lift’s Power Torque Helical steel pile.
